We just call them hatchbacks. We call what you would call hatchbacks "hatchback coupes."

I'm pretty sure we call them wagons...I think a hatchback is more compact.

And also hatchbacks have a hatch door whereas wagons have a trunk gate.

It's a little different I guess.

as we can prove, there are lots of meanings where ever you are!
like a 'hot hatch' would be a Civic Typre R or Vauxhall Astra VXR (basically, a performance hatch)
a 'hatchback' would be anything between a mazda 3,
ford focus, vauxhall vectra
estates would be anything with a tailgate
etc etc

There was a time when the Vectra, Mondeo, or similar cars were called Fastbacks over here, lol. I guess it was because they were bigger than the standard size hatchback?

So did you guys hear the announcement about the camaro convertible aparently there are some pics and the production car will actually come with some 20s and 21s just like it was showed with which is strange cause itll have bigger wheels than the vette (according to the press release.)

If you guys re-read my original post, I stated that even though the Subbies were not hatchbacks, they had the shape and opening tailgate and they look fantastic. Oh and true_brit is correct, we call them station wagons.
