3000GT insurace significantly more than Dodge Stealth?

Alright someone I work with just got a Mitsubishi 3000GT and it's the perfect car for me and seeing as how I'm quitting soon I wont be cramping his style. Anyway I did the allstate quick quote on one and it was $2,200 some for a 6 month policy which seems insanely high. For comparison I tried a Dodge Stealth R/T and it was only $800. Is there a reason to this? I'm going to have my mom call our actual insurance company this week and get an accurate quote but most of the time allstate has the same prices as our company.

i had tried doing the same thing when i bought my new car, and none of the numbers ever made sense. i was checking rates on geico and i think that if you added a second car to compare them, it gave you a better rate for the second car. the only way to accurately know what you will pay is to call your insurance company. it will usualy be cheeper if you are under your mothers policy, assuming she has a reasonably clean driving record
