window gets dirty after i roll it back up, rough idle, windows don't defrost

1) 2000 ford taurus lx. it idles rough when at stand still, as though it's gonna stall...it has 238,000 kms on it. it has never stalled and accelerates perfectly. the eingine is in fantastic condition. dont know when the last tune up was, or last time fuel filter was changed (if that has anything to do with it) transmission shifts well, but the oil in it was very brown when i bought the car. i changed it (professionaly) and now it's blood red. new air filter as well.

2) rear passenger windows NEVER melt and the front windows melt a bit
when there's ice on them. heat is hot but after a long time of
driving, no antifreeze leak in rad or in overflow bottle. the vents are
not working according to when i turn the knobs. the top vent is
always working even when it's turned to another knob (another vent,
such as the bottom). should i check the thermostat? any other
ideas?

any help would be appreciated.

I would Bet The Dirty window and the rough running engine have something to do with each other, You have absolutely no mechanical aptitude and desperately should seek a professional to assist you in your problems, to give you any info would be dangerous to everyones safety

what kind of car is it?

a lot of cars have vacuum diaphrams that run the HVAC system. it is a possibility that you have a loose or leaking vacuum line, causing the car to run crappy at idle and also not allowing you to change from defrost to vent.

need more info.
