How far can i drive past the recommended oil change distance

my friend drives just a 4 door economy sized sedan (the model/make escapes me right now). He is about 50 miles over when he was supposed to do an oil change and he needs to go down to New York in a few hours and would MUCH prefer driving over taking the train/subway/walking. It is about 50-60 miles to new york so hed be driving maybe 120 miles in total, is that unsafe or damaging to his car?

No, he should be fine. The oil change interval is only really a guide. Although it's best to stick to it to maintain an economical car that'll last a long time, a few miles over the reccomendation wont do any harm....If he neglected it and ran it a few thousand miles over, that might be a different story!

I recommend trains anyways. You never know when it's a good day for driving here or a bad day...and you don't wanna experience a bad day...(as I did today)

Metro north ftw.
