Question Help

99% of the time the car starts like a new car, but twice when I turn the key the dash idiot lights come on just as normal. when i turn the key further to engage the starter....nothing. there is no clicking in the starter. no noise what so ever. there has never been a weak start or excessive cranking to start the car. as maybe to indicate a bad battery or poor fuel delivery. I tried messing with the gear shifter and checked all the fuses If I leave the car sit for a FEW hours and go back and try again it started like the day I purchased the car. please help I hate being stranded in the cold! and thank you for any assistance. Btw its a 97 ford taurus

Could be an immobiliser fault, or some dodgy wiring to the starter motor...maybe.
