Exclamation Nothing Special Car with a typical Problem

alright here's to laughter.....
My Fiancee and I have a 95 Ford Escort (1.9L 4cyl. 5speed manual), it is burning fuel and oil, i know theres a bad valve in there, and the Head gasket is on its way out. Outside of me spending a whole weekend ripping our only car apart to hopefully fix the problem any suggestions to increase fuel econ. He's burning 1/4 tank of gas per 20 minutes of driving. Driving the thing off a cliff and laughing while it burns isn't an option just yet hehe. Any ideas that may buy us a little time and save us some money, that i can do in a weekend would be great.

If I were you, I would just try to borrow one of your friend's car for a couple days until the weekend hits..because 1/4 of the tank gone after 20 minutes is crazy..you'll waste so much money...

STFU you stupid little twat. Do you ever get tired of proving that you're a complete idiot? I thought not.

Fixing the fuel leak is my suggestion to increasing fuel economy. Of course fixing the dead cylinder too would give a good increase.

Unfortunately there is no magic wand to wave, aside from fixing the problem.

has anyone officially diagnosed the head gasket and valve, or is this just stuff people have told you. i can think of two issues that are common on those cars, but i need a little more info. i'd tell you now, but i can't type for long b/c my processor has developed the "random crash" feature...
