Actually doing some real work on a car. Well, helping anyway. The Clemson Sports Car Club is trying to get 3 cars together to take to the Grassroots Motorsports $2008 challenge, and I'm helping out with a 1983 Mazda RX-7.
The motor has a blown apex gasket, so I'm told, so swapping the motor is step #1 (the club owns 4 or 5 other first gen RX-7 motors, so we'll end up using one of those). The radiator and most of the other engine bay componets had either been removed or detached from the engine, so two other Freshmen and I detached the driveshaft from the transmission and unbolted the motor from its brace. After that it came out fairly easily.
None of us had ever done this before, and our leadership sort of ditched us, so I hope we've not ruined the car somehow.
