some of those cars you wonder what the story is behind them. Why would someone just dump a car on the side of the road. They all still have number plates on them, not like you don't know who they belong to. and why haven't they been towed yet? I understand some are on private property, but others you can see the tickets washed off the windshield. I would love to get my hands on some of them.

If you want to buy an abandoned car, you must go to the "Direccion General de TrŠfico" with the numbers of the plate, and they tell you the name of the car's owner. Then you can contact with him and negociate a price for the car, if he wants to sell it, of course. People leave cars in the streets simply for ignorance or for not proceeding with the papers to give of fall (dar de baja, I don't know how say it in english, so, i've just translate it) the vehicle and take it to a scrapping (desguace)

Wow, thats funny that so MANY cars would be abandoned like that... Is there no law in Spain that disallows the abandment of cars? Which I would think would be hard to enforce. I have only been to Mexico and there isn't much there in most of it anyways. :-P No offense...

Yes, of course there is a law, but the problem is that the municipal depots can't receive all the abandoned cars in the city

I know I was just comparing what I know and what was stated. I know they don't have anything related with what they do with the cars, I was just saying....

An old van from a disappeared spanish manufacturer, called Avia. This is an abandoned 1981 Avia 1250.

If you like it, this is the 1.8 i.e., one of the most powerful versions of the Fiat Tipo (it has 97hp), this one, abandoned in La CoruŮa.
