The 335 Coupe is about $6,000 more than the 135...why would I want a 135 over a 335 Coupe?

Smaller, lighter, faster. Not much in every category, true, but how often do you get those options for less money?

I prefer the one series to the three for what it delivers: A modern interpretetion of the classic 2002/E30 layout. It's actually about the same size as the E21/E30 and a bit smaller then the E36. It may be heavy for a small car, but it's over 300 lbs lighter than the lightest new 3 series, and that twin turbo I6 engine is outstanding.

To me, it looks chunky and purposeful, with the taller greenhouse of the earlier BMWs.

I've seen it and I knew what you were talking about originally, but I doubt they are going to produce it.

Here's how I feel...

135 Curb Weight: 3373 lbs.
335 Curb Weight: 3571 lbs.

Their curb weights mean little to me, but you can see that the 135 isn't that much lighter. Considering the huge drop-off in looks and "prestigiousness", the 135 SHOULD be much lighter. Offer something. The BMW 335 looks its price tag, the 135 doesn't (to me). I'd much rather buy the more elegant, equally fast 335 for a little more coin and expect a higher resale value.

Ah, resale. I never buy a car based on who else might want it later. of course, I rarely buy new, and let someone else take that depreciation hit.

From what I've found, the 1 series weighs 300 lbs less, not 200, which is almost substantial. Not huge, but I like the size and proportions a little better, as it's closer in concept to what the small BMW is supposed to be. It's also quicker and handles as well, so you're really getting more (except outside dimensions and weight) for your lower dollar figure. More performance, less money, what's not to like (other than personal feelings about the looks, and I like the looks of the one series).

I think What is right to some extent. I do think the 1 should be more distinguished from the 3 in wieght and price. It's a whole class lower!

But Chris has a point as well...there's no denying that the 1 still gives you more for less.

I guess this is what happens when put the nicest engine in two different classes without changing it much

We got a 128i Cabrio in today. Its...ok. I'm still waiting on the 135i coupe though.

What surprised me is the engine bay is exactly the same as a 328i. Locations, covers, airbox, reservoirs, etc. They look like the exact same plastic.

edit: That tii concept is a sexy beast.
