We need an American import killer!!

We need an American car to beat the crap out of the imports at their own game
Although the Mustang, Camaro, and Firebird are good, theyre in a completely different class
Dodge is doing a good job with the SRT-4 though
The current Cavaliers, Neons, and Focuses won't cut it
GM should scrap the Sunfire and bring out a new Cavalier with a V6
Ford should put the Focus with a V8 crammed into the front into production
Dodge should expand on the SRT-4 concept

Pontiac should have left the Fiero in production with a V8 the engine compartments crammed but the Fiero really goes
and besides it had the looks

the V8 wont fit in a focus, besides which you dont want another muscle car you want a AWD sports car, the focus could be a good place to start. If i may be so bold. The jag x type, i think you have those, is 4x4 and the 3 litre duratec sport is 236bhp so its certainly got the makings of a sports car. all the runing gear should fit in a focus, unless you can live with a jag. Its velatively tuneableprobibly get about 300bhp out of it then a bottle of nitros. lighten it what do you think?

The Focus is soon to be offered with a V8 conversion in the States, It'll cost about $11,000 though, but with RWD and a 4.6litre V8 ya cant go wrong...so I gues that means, with a little bit of modding and some shoehorning lol, a V8 will fit in the Focus!

still wont be AWD, which is 1/2 the problem, they need to improve the balence of the car, with that V8 in the front it will behave like a truck, weigh in the front, drive in the back, wheel spin city.

It's all good really though, that shouldn't be a problem, most RWD cars have that set up, evern with large engines!

Again, take a Mustang and go aftermarket shopping. It really is no different than what you would do to a burner, only its an American car.

First of all cliffys right about the V8
ive seen pics of one modified with a V8 thrown in the front
its sweet although cinqygs probably right about poor handling
it could do some awesome drifting in a parking lot though
cuz theres no walls to hit when u slide way beyond your control
the other thing is that the mustang and especially the z06 and viper are in a completely different class than a civic
although the mustang is around the same class as a prelude or sumthing
(i dont know my jap cars too well)

The Focus wont be stock...hence why you have to spend an extra 11 grand on it, also, the V8 will weigh soooo much that the handling will be evened out!

The V8 focus was developed by Kugel Komponents, a street rod manufacturer, and sold through Ford Racing. You can buy turn key verions for stupid money, or just buy the BOLT IN kit. they have kits for both the older 5.0 and the 4.6 Cobra engine.

Oh, and it actually HELPS the Focus handling becuae the car is less nose heavy than stock. What's that? Yup. Less nose heavy than stock.

How? Well, I'll tell you how.

The stock Focus has a transverse 4 cyl that weighs about 300 lbs. This engine sits entirely ahead of the front wheel centerline. the transaxle is directly OVER the centerline of the wheels. This means that almost 400 lbs of drivetrain weight are carried ahead of or on top of the front wheels, giving the whole car a 65% front weight bias. This is the same whether the car is FWD or AWD (as in the Euro RS).

The V8 version caries a 400-500 lb engine and a 150 lb transmission. But, the engine sits barely over the front wheels, and the transmission STARTS back at the firewall, and goes rearward. This means that at least half of the engine transmission package mass is carried rearward. In fact, the total weight on teh front wheels is reduced by around 100 lbs. At the rear, teh mass is increased by the rest of the difference. So, even though the total weight goes up by about 200 lbs, the balance is shifted rearward so it's actually at 55% in front. Since total weight is kept around 2600 lbs with the 5.0, it's actually rather light and powerful. the 4.6 liter version hits almost 2900 lbs, but that's still quite a bit lighter than a Cobra...
