Internet's usually cheaper, but it's nice to be able to see the parts in the flesh as it were, due to the Internet having deceiving tendencies!

well...

It depends how much money you are willing to spend..and how fast you want the car. Do you want a 4,6 or 8 cylinder?
Personally i have a 89 CRX Si with a ZC DOHC conversion with a few mods such as: intake, headers, exhaust. The dyno test reported my car at about 160 horsepower....i am completely satisfied with it and consider it a fast, small, gas efficient and reliable car.
I guess a 90-94 Civic hatchback with a b18 swap also might make sense?

You can find cheap high mileage Honda's and just swap the engine and tranny with the extra money you have.
