out of ideas....

i have a 99 camaro and it keeps dying while i'm driving. my catalytic converter was clogged and was glowing red when i drove so for a temporary fix i took it off and out up straight pipe. when it first died it acted like it wasn't getting enough gas so i replaced the fuel filter. when i push in the clutch while i'm driving the rpms fall really fast and really low to where it wants to shut off but then it slowly goes back up. i don't know what to do...?
