Car paint.

I'm going to be painting my project car soon. Just wanting to know the best place to pick up some paint, without heading to the body shop. Thanks.

You have to go to an automotive paint supply store. Some people use Sherwin Williams, but as a professional painter, I won't recommend them. try and find PPG, DuPont, or R-M brands. Prepping is of primary importance. The best paints in the world won't matter if the prep sucks.

Here's a thread I participated in a bit ago that might help:

You make it sound like when you sand down to the bare metal, you have a hard time getting paint to stick. I've never sanded down to bare metal to paint before, but I'm going to this time. Just wondering what the deal is with that?

The small air compressor I was going to use was stolen. I guess I'll need a bigger one anyway. What size tank would you suppose I'd need to paint my car one panel at the time?

And thanks.
