well their first mistake was hiring bangle, their second mistake was making him head of design, and their 3rd mistake was adding too many models to their lineup.

so i don't think it's so much of a "what" were they thinking, but "are" they thinking.

It's a Bond Bug! It's actually one of Bond's less repulsive cars (they made some cars in the late 50's, early 60's, that looked like shoes!).

The Bond Bug isn't all bad, though: it does have gullwing doors! Oh, and it was only available in orange...

It exists because in the UK, you can drive certain 3-wheelers on a motorbike licence, and pay less road tax as a result. However, to be classed as a motorbike, the car isn't allowed to have a reverse gear.

Triumph always managed to give the ugly tree a good shake. Just look up, in no particular order, the Mayflower, TR7 and late-model Spitfires.

And who can forget the Allegro Vanden Plas??

Bond Bug, eh? huh...you know, if they had finished the rest of the car, and made the cabin a bit lower, that might've turned out to be a good looking car...

Ugh!

I must say, both of the original scions are bad, the honda element, and one of the most horrible, yet trendy cars on US streets, is that PT cruiser. These have all been mentioned, but they are my picks for the top of the list.

Why you guys always have to insult one of the better selling small wagons around? I've loved the PT since the first concept version was shown. The primary reason it's sold is DUE to it's style. Truly ugly cars fail to sell (i.e. Aztek). Truly ugly cars don't generate car clubs around it around the world, even before they officially go io sale there (look at the huge following in Europe and Japan with huge PT Cruiser clubs in both regions).

As I've said before, topics like this exist solely to let people prove to others just how closed minded and insulting they can be.

After almost 60,000 miles, I've concluded that the PT is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned (and after 25+ years and over a hundred cars, that's saying something).

Gotta say I dont like the Azteck.
I love the PT Cruiser.
THE EDSEL. 58-59=frontend sucked, good looking rear. 60 they fixed thefront and totally scrwed the rear end. What were they thinking? Performance and comfort/ride was a +. Bad 3 years for the auto industry anyway. We all love recessions.

I have never been a big fan of Volvos, but they are getting much better now.

But if you want to talk about ugly bimmers, how about the 2002?
