My mom and stick shift.

Ok well, the truck (2002 f-150) my mom drives every now and then. Shes not great with stick. She shifts very very slowly, waits too long to press the clutch in when stopping and short shifts a lot. Now when she's done driving around, and I go off in it, it's sometimes hard to go into gear (has even made that horrible grind noise twice) and the clutch doesn't have that broken in feel(it will be touchy like a brand new one) After I drive it awhile it's perfectly smooth and fine. I keep telling her she needs to drive it like I do. Convince her to!

Another thing she does, that gets me the most, is when she starts off from a dead stop or slow roll the truck always vibrates and sputters

There is a problem with that. It's technically her truck.

then just go up to her, point at her face, and say something like, "WOMAN, that is MY truck now, and YOU will keep paying it for me. now, hand me over MY keys and never touch MY truck ever again..... and go do the laundry!".......

or u could just do like cynqig said and give her lessons but that would be just krazy

Can she do mine too? And the dishes. But seriously, the only way she's going to get better is if she drives it more. It sounds crazy but the more she drive it, the better she will get, right?

taking too long to shift could have its ill effects over time. pushing in the clutch and waiting too long while shifting up will lug the engine when it does get into gear. but a 2002 f150 should have plenty of torque down low so it shouldnt do much damage.

More driving won't help. She's not new to this, her first car was a stick. Oh well. Just being a passenger, or being in the driveway as she pulls off, hearing how she doesnt give it enough gas and something makes this awful schreel sound ..

Yeah, especially since she short shifts to start with

The other night, she said she had trouble with 4th gear. Ground it twice

Thumbs up INYGKNOK YOU'VE just killed me

hhhhhh

seriously let your mom know thet in the first gear when she takes off she should stay a little more on the clutch touch point or she might give it a little more gas means a little more torque to the gear which means a better start if she keeps going bad on the clutch like you say thets the reason why the car jumps when she starts rolling on the first .

oh by the way
