Question Buying first car.....

I'm looking to buy my first car, and I'm not sure where to start. I know that I want a reliable car with 4 wheel drive, that can withstand Maine winters. Also it has to be 4 door, and 15,000.00 or under. I don't really care whether it is new or used, but I want it to be able to put a good 150,000 miles on it. Also, it needs to be an automatic, I'm not good with stick shifts. I want it to look really nice, preferably classy or sporty. any suggestions? thanks

In that care i think you have just talked yourself into a corner.

If you want a 4x4 sporty car then your looking at things like, impreza's, lancer, skyline, but most of these only come in manual formant.

On the other hand you could have a big yank tank, blazer, surburban, truck/suv type jobbie which you can get in auto and 4x4 but isnt really very sporty.

OMG!! There's tons of small sport utility 4x4/all-wheel...

BMW X3
Toyota Highlander, and one more I can't think of
Honda CRV?
Saturn Hue
Ford Explorer Sport

I know there's more and better one's than what I've so vaguely listed...

how can you call them sporty! you need a ladder to climb into them!

There just another pointless example of motoring, softroaders, 4wd for driving on the road , sporty is something that you take to a track, be it a off road chalenge or a drag strip, all there suitable for is taking sprogs to school

...and yet they're called sport ut's...don't get mad at me. Sporty in the sense that they are smaller than their "big brothers."

Are so short that to step into a Honda CRV is a challenge?

No im 6'1 but thats not the point, well you can off road in proper 4x4's like landy's even the freelander has some resonable off roabablity but the HRV CRV etc are just ummm like a blunt pencil pointless.

They're not intended for off-roading. They're for "soccer moms" that don't want to drive vans around. If you want to go off-roading, then buy a proper vehicle for that. If you're going to be driving on rough roads/dirt roads, a small SUV will suffice.

if your going to be driving on ruff roads and non surfaced roads a 6R4 will do that job. without the need for 4x4 or rather silly arangment
