Some performance cars within that range includes Subaru WRX, Mistu Lancer Evo (maybe a bit more), Mustang Mach1, Neon SRT4, Acura RSX, Nissan SE-R, etc....

I would go with a Mustang Mach1 (basically a non-blown Cobra) because of the bang for the buck but I'm bias and Mustangs aren't for everyone. Quality is usually sacrificed for performance but you DO get a lot of performance. The Neon is supposedly nasty fast for the money. The imports such as the WRX and EVO are a bit more expensive but also a good value and handle like nothing else. In short, you have a wide variety for under $30K. Good luck.

I would definately go w/ some American Muscle. You could get a Camaro SS for under $30000, even some really nicely restored Classics like 69 Charger. or a 70 Chevelle. But my opinion is go w/ American.

I'm personally a fan of the Cavailer, I know they havn't really proved themselves in the long run, but, they go for about $14-17 000, so, I say that it's a pretty good bang for your buck.

Pulsar GTiR gearboxs are weak. But the motors are tuff.
Skyline GTR are great, specially if you want to modify them.

Rear wheel drive is more fun tho
