What car are you talking about? Engine noise isn't just controlled by the exhaust: it's affected by the capacity, the number of cylinders, the compression ratio of the cylinders, ignition timing, type of fuel...the list is endless.
What are you trying to achieve? Silencers (English for 'mufflers') control the volume of the exhaust system, but there's a lot more to it than that, really. The layout of the system, bore of the pipe and number and type of silencers all affect the sound. Even the material it's made from affects it.
k, i know this might souind dumb to some of u ppl, but we we have to start somewhere
what part of the exhaust system to get to make it sound good.... and how much am i looking at..

Well... Autozone. Go there, 20.00 for a "Performance" Exhaust tip, it will add a bit of sound. Unless you weld one on, or change the entire exhaust it won't be breathtaking. But for 20.00.. I guess it's ok.
