Need help with my Jetta!

OK guys I need a little help on doing things to my Jetta...I have a 2000 Jetta GLS (performance parts) I already have an exhaust, and a chip (but I'm afraid to put in the chip because I hear it could ruin the computer and everyhting else). Now I was thinking of getting a cold air intake, and headers as a start. Any other suggestions???

Welcome to the forum JettaChiC20. What about forced induction or/and nitrous?

i'm gradually doing things to it, but first I was working on the exterior I just ordered my Caricature body kit that should be coming soon, and that's the last of the exterior things that I want to do. I worked on the lights, and when I get the body kit on I will post some pics of my car :!:
than it will be time for suspension and performance

Are you going to stand by your car in any of the pictures of your kitted Jetta?wink Did you modify any of your previous cars? I read that you had problems with your Mitsubishi Eclipse when you had it. It wasn't anything do do with overheating by any chance was it?

DONT use nitrous unless you got the money to buy a compleatly new engine... it eats up the engine like you wouldnt believe. and its really cheap to use in a race, just go for like... a port & polish, full exauhst, intake, supercharger or turbo. just try and stay away from nitrous

oh, and go with some nice 16 or 17 inch rims, cuz if you wanna race, 18s are a little to big

I agree with mazda6man. NOS is cheap and nasty. Its great for racing until you run out.

So you’re both disputing what I said now are you? P
You can’t just say that nitrous will wear an engine out because it depends on the strength of the engine and how much nitrous is being used. A 50bhp jet and maybe a slightly stronger clutch wouldn’t be a problem as far as wear and tear goes.
Then again, needing refills is a real inconvenience. Say that you spend 1k on a having a nitrous kit installed; the bigger jets you use and the more you use nitrous, the more it’s been worth your while but that means more refills, more money being spent and maybe more upgrades e.g. paddle clutch, stronger pistons etc.
Okay then, (so after considering nitrous for my own use), it’s now off the recommendation list. thumbs

maybe I will once I it's finished . I did some mods to my previous cars (but not anything performance). I had the Eclipse for about 8 months before I sold it (I can't believe I sold it for $3,000 with all the ish that was wrong with it - then again I sold to a kid who was just getting his license and thought the looked dope) It didn't have an overheating problem, but it had everything else wrong with it.

I don't think I would have the money to put out for NOS anyways and to keep filling it. As of right now I have a full exhaust, and I am getting the intake and headers as I said before, I don't think I will put anything else in only because I live in "over populated" Jersey. 4 words A LOT OF COPS!

I am getting 17" gun metal Alessio Turbo rims to match my smoked out look on my car
