can someone help

hi all, a quick question? i have recently purchased a 1980 amc concord. I am trying to get it insured but my car insurance company is telling me that the vin is not any vehicle. now i have owned other cars that were older than 1980 and know that the vin is not 17 characters. what do you think the problem is? any help would be great. thanx

My suggestion would be to research your VIN on the internet, verify that it is in fact a correct VIN, and provide the insurance company with the information on the way a 1980 AMC VIN was issued.
