Talking Thoughts on New Hybrid Cars

Just wondering what you guys think of the new hybrid vehicles. Are they worth buying yet? I'm thinking that the technology is too new right now, but eventually running on electric will be the way to go. Its much cleaner and more efficient.

Also, I heard that some manufacturers are limiting Hybrid Production, not sure why.

that kind of technology is better suited to mass-transit....like Seatle's new bus system (made by GM), a few thousand Prius' aren't going to save the world, but a few thousand buses might.

i think its great technology. i've riden in a Prius several times, the acceleration is actually pretty good and they're really quiet......but i'm what you'd call a "performance minded consumer" if it don't go vroom, i don't want it.

the new Mitsu Eclipse actually looks kinda inviting.......

Hybrid

I'm getting around 900 miles to the tank in my '04 Civic Hybrid.

Here's a link to most of my tanks since new:

900 Miles to the tank and mid-upper 60's MPG isn't going to change the world, but it does save our family alot of money.

I believe the demise of the ICE is close, and hybrid/electrics will rule. There'll still be hardcore gas-burners, but gas'll just keep going up.

apparently the new accord hybrid is actually faster in the 0-60 time than the regular one, surprisingly, but the technology is getting better by the day in this age, so i would say wait a few more years and then take another look, and again, im a performance guy, so if it doesnt have a big engine and lots of torque, and eats gas, its not my style haha, but i was surprised to hear this the other day
