vwhobo, it might have been helpful is you explained you were talking about 60 foot times, not 0-60 acceleration. But, I guess you didn't because you find their ignorance amusing. Lol, I do too.

Since this topic was originally about 351s, I've got some pics for you of my friends old POS 351M. He complains about parts being hard to find, it's a 351 modified, go figure.

It may be heavy as a bear, but it is much tougher than the 351C and 351W/K engines. The bores are thicker, there is far less side loading of the bores due to the long 400 rods, and it has great reserves of strength in the crank with those 3" mains. Race 351 4v HO's moved around in the crank with the 2.75" bearings, proof being wierd cross hatching on hard used race engines.

The use of the little 2-bbl 2150 and its manifold may not have been a great choice, but the ignition and general huge safety factors everywhere were excellent. The 351M proved that Ford does learn from its thin wall mistakes. It like unleaded, the heads are less crack-prone than the earlier 351C 2v numbers. It has great flow rates which exceed Chebby's hornier Fuelie heads, and can last a long while.

Of all V8's in the world 351C's are my favourite. The 351M is part of that family, and has less design stuff-ups. The 351M is in fact lighter than some of the XE 351C castings that found there way into some specialist Fords, the-so called NASCAR block was up to about 719 pounds, while the early thin wall 351C's were in at 582 pounds. The 351W is much lighter than any 351C by over 37 pounds.

The 351M is very tall with an extra 1.1 inches taller than the 351C, same as the 385 series, but its also nearly as heavy as a 460 big block, but not as heavy as a NASCAR 351.

See Bubba250's web-site. He's an absolute 351M/400 nut, and he's got the whole package sorted out.
