I'm a considered ricer sometimes, but I'm not full of the caca. I don't claim to be able to stomp or smoke people like this guy. I think he's taking some of the flames on civics to harsh. & thnx ChrisV for the input bro, I think I learned a couple new things today
But isn't it much more effective to add a wing on the back of a rwd/awd car than fwd? I never thought any different. Although I do know of the downforce, I thought that the weight of the wing itself was a factor in your cars performance whether small or big. & my friend has a 16lb wing (almost)...whats the biggest wing you know of for a street car?

No. And the wing is there for the same reason regardless of car.

Vastly less a factor than how much pizza you had for lunch the previous night. Seriously, what percentage of 2500-3000 lbs is 10-16 lbs? The only time the weight of the typical sport coupe wing is a factor is in the strength of the struts holding the hatch/trunk up when open.

Huge double and triple decker monstosities designed to look like the ones on an F1 car. I've also seen plywood wings put onto Civics (and painted to match, as though they were serious and not just doing it as a funny joke...)

Mob mentality, I guess. But civics can be made to go fast. A vortech supercharger alone makes 70 something horses on a 2000 Si. Other tweaks, like a greddy turbo (Not sure how much more power they create). some nice tires, stroker kit, new valvetrain, they can be made to go fast, it;s just the attitude that;

"My soupped up civic can beat your supra!"
"Whys that?"
"because it has a spoiler on it!"

Sooooo....
Thoughts?

I look as ricer as an attitude, but not like you see it.
Those lines look like a wannabe ricer. Some1 who drives around for the looks mainly just trying to make people think there rides fastwhen most of the time a stock mercury mystique can stomp it(I know I won $20 off it 1 time in my moms old mystique lol) Some people just follow the crowd, but I believe that "ricers" are the true guys any people you see saying gay bahogana like that follow these 3 easy steps.
Step 1...point
Step 2...laugh
Step 3...Hop in mommys car & stomp em (If you know youll win of course cuz if you lose I doubt there fake ego will lower).

I recall seeing on Car and Driver Television about some ol' muscle car which got a spoiler added to it (sorry but I'm no expert on 60s or 70s cars), which caused a loss of traction at the front (and therefore bad cornering). I'm positive I saw this, but not sure about how they resolved the problem.

Could someone explain this to my ignorant self?

Civics do make good SCCA cars or Autocross cars, they are very light and have a huge aftermarket...doesn't mean they're demons in the ol' 1320'. Point in case...I raced a new Civic SI at Atco raceway this fall...he had the obligatory fart can muffler and a turbo kit....he proceeded to run 15.3's. That's not impressive...by any means. The kid must have had at least 4K in mods plus the price of the car and my budget build-up(under $1500 including my new heads sitting in my room and cost of car) dogged him.

I would definitely agree in saying that the whole ricer thing is probably 99% attitude.

No one is arguing that they make perfect drag cars, but his quote just says "racing" and as far as I know, there's vastly more to racing than drag racing.

Even so, I know a lot of 10 second drag Civics anymore, even without turbos. That's pretty impressive for small engine cars, especially considering I know of a lot of 13-14 second V8 bracket racers...

Still, his quote says youre retarded for racing a Civic, and as I pointed out, SCCA racers are not retarded.
