Question Looking at Buying a 2004 Sonata. Bit worried about Hyundai

Hey, My name is Chris. Just looking seriously at buying a 2004 Hyndai Sonata. Any thoughts on what they're like as a car. I'm getting it for a good price. Help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Well, I personally would rather spend the extra few grand on an Accord, Camry, Altima or 6.

To get the power of the four cylinders of those aforementioned cars you'd need to have the 2.7L V6 (170hp) because the japanese fours all make in the neighborhood of 160-170hp (the Sonata's four cylinder makes a meager 138hp). So that brings the price up to almost the base price of the midrange or base japanese cars. To me buying from the Korean brands aren't worthwhile because they still arent up to quality levels of the japanese automakers and their reliability has been very shady (Hyundai being very low on the JD power brand makers reliability list). If I were you I'd spend the extra grand or so and get the Accord LX or Camry LE/SE.

yeah hyundi's are ok untill they hit the 100k mark, then they start driving ruff and things go wrong. There are plenty of good cars out there for the same price so i suggest have a look around im sure u will find something better.

We're finding out how good a Hyundai can be, having bought a dirt cheap '02 Accent GS and the 5 year, 100k mile warranty.

So far, it's a reliable economy car. Since it only has to BE an economy car, that's a good thing. If you want an inexpensive car to get around in, they seem to be pretty good. If you're looking for power, choosing ANY of these cars in't the best option, so saying one or the other has a few more hp is really missing their point.
