Honda s2000 : 2.2 L, 237 HP = 108 HP per litre.

That would put it second...

Honda Civic Si : 2.0 L, 197 HP = 99 HP per litre.

That would put it ahead of that Murcielago..

unless that >=5.0L means it has to be higher than 5 L.

You talk funny.

at first i agreed with wat u said also....

bt after research, i found tat lesser cc can squeeze more hp/L. bt higher cc hard to produce more hp hp/L....

for example, f430 4.3L~490hp = 114hp/l

tat is greater than enzo!! means f430 engine better than enzo? i dun think so...

another case, S54 (M3) 3.2L~360HP = 113HP/L

also better than S65 (m5/m6), bt we all knw tat S65 better than s54...

of cos, can't deny tat honda is one of top na builder...

mb we shd wait for 2008 new nsx v10, then we able to tell...

p/s: correct me if i am wrong...

Acctually, the Si gets 202hp, and broken in (2,500miles) it's at 209...so that makes it 104.5 lol

I would suggest measuring that along with pounds/hp...

How about power per dollar? Blank check engineering is fine and all, but anyone can make a lot of power with a lot of money. engine builders are making those levels of power from normally aspirated domestic engines, and have for years. And if they build mroe than one of them for clients, then it's really no different than building a few high end exotic engines... except they cost less.

power/dollar, that's a fun thing... that kinda limits to using the MSRP of only new cars, because we could compare it to back when cars only cost $5,000, but then we'd have to mess with inflation to make it "fair".

the first car that springs to mind for power/dollar though is the mustang GT. but there are others that get more power per buck...

due to inflation and crap, i'm only including 2006 models, or the latest model if the last model was 2000 or later.

power/MSRP price
GTO coupe: 400hp/$32,295 = .0124hp/$
mustang GT coupe: 300hp/$25,140 = .0119hp/$
*SRT-4: 230hp/$20,700 = .0111hp/$
eclipse GT: 263hp/$23,699 = .0111hp/$
focus ZX3 S: 136hp/$13450 = .0101hp/$

for the sake of keeping the list short, i wont include anything under .01hp/$ and yes, the STI and Evo are worse then that.

and no, i'm not saying these are the top 5, these are just the 5 that i've found so far that are .01hp/$ or better. that, and i'm not going with just N/A engines... so i'll put a * by ones that arent.

The only problem with that is the cost of the engine is outdone by the cost of the car, so your'e paying not just for HP, but for everything else the car offers. A better example would be to just compare costs of the crate engine from the factory, but that would be hard to do in so many cases.

But when you're talking how much horsepower an engine makes or can make, you don't want to add in power windows, leather, and IRS, as that skews the total cost.

How about the cost of Mugen and Type-R stickers? Those are worth 50hp each.
