The 2004 Touareg is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in two trims, the V6 and the V8. The 2004 Touareg's closest competitors include the Buick Rainier, the GMC Yukon XL, and the Toyota Sequoia. Upon introduction, the V6 is equipped with a standard 3.2-liter, V6, 220-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. The V8 is equipped with a standard 4.2-liter, V8, 310-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims. The 2004 Touareg is all-new for 2004.
